The 2010 Nonsuch Big Band in the Park event was a big success. Profits will be divided evenly between two charities – Friends of Nonsuch and Nonsuch Rotary. The event is run by Nonsuch Rotary Club for the Friends of Nonsuch. Early figures below are estimates so subject to revision.

- Jay Craig’s Orchestra played a wide variety of Big Band music from 7.15 pm perfectly tailored to the mood of his large audience
- The two Vocalists, Louise Cookman and Matthew Ford, were very popular
- As the evening progressed more and more dancers took to the ’floor’
- The applause and the ’Thank You’s’ from the audience as they left were profuse, showing how much everyone had enjoyed the event
- Over £2,000 was raised from a raffle with prizes donated mainly by Epsom business people
- Total profits (to be announced) will be divided equally between the Friends of Nonsuch charity and Nonsuch Rotary charities.

Swimathon 2010 at Epsom College

Nonsuch Rotary’s annual Swimathon will be held on Saturday 6th November 2010 at Epsom College , who have offered for the second year the use of its superb 25 metre pool on the Epsom College Campus in College Road Epsom. (Follow the Epsom College link above for directions).
Our Swimathon helps local organisations and charities to raise funds for their own purposes as well as supporting Rotary charities. We have aways been well supported by local schools such as Rosebery School in Epsom and Nonsuch High School in Cheam but any local group/company interested in raising funds for charity is welcome to enter one or more teams.
The idea is simple. Teams collect sponsorship from friends, relatives and supporters for a 30 minute sponsored swim. Nonsuch Rotary, under the leadership of Colin Kennedy, who organises the event and the proceeds from sponsorship are split 50/50 between the local group and Rotary charities. Last year a total of 28 teams and 119 swimmers swam a total of 3798 lengths which equated to 94.95 kilometers or 59 miles!
Rotary provides all the documentation including sponsorship forms and a certificate upon completion of the swim and free refreshments are available to swimmers.
Forms are available for download via the links below or contact Colin Kennedy for further information on 01737 243509 or email nonsuchswim@aol.

The Friends of Nonsuch and Nonsuch Rotary Club will be holding our next ‘Big Band in Nonsuch Park’ charity event on Friday evening 4 June 2010 in the delightful gardens of Nonsuch Mansion, close to Cheam Village. Gates will be open for picnickers from 5.30 pm and the main concert will begin at 7.15 pm

Nonsuch Big Band in the Park 2010
By popular request, following his welcome first appearance at Nonsuch in 2009, Jay Craig and his Orchestra will return for the 2010 concert.
Tickets will be £17 on the gate but there will be savings of £3.00 per ticket for early booking – only £14 if purchased in before the evening.
We were delighted that no fewer than 19 local companies supported this community event in 2009, contributing over £4,000 through either sponsorship or purchasing advertising space in our free programme. Others donated excellent prizes for the raffle which raised £1,845. We are grateful to everyone concerned
A crowd of nearly 900 enjoyed last June’s event which raised over £8,800 for the charity funds of the Friends and Nonsuch Rotary. Money raised for the Friends enable them to continue their work on the Mansion Museum. Among the beneficiaries from the Nonsuch Rotary charity funds were the Macmillan Butterfly Centre which does such magnificent work for the support of people suffering from cancer and their families.
The organisers are delighted that the Sutton Guardian and the Epsom Guardian have agreed to be our Media Partners for 2010.
More details, including booking forms for downloading and box office information, will be available on this website from about the beginning of March 2010.
To register an interest in purchasing tickets or sponsoring the event now please email: nonsuchbigbandnight@gmail.com
